Alternate versions of Jamie xx, Anstam and Nathan Fake‘s tracks for Radiohead‘s King of Limbs remix series were unveiled today via the band’s website. Previous entries were released earlier this summer, available both as downloads and through independent record shops on limited edition 12″ vinyl. According to Radiohead’s website, these three were apparently finished too late to be included as vinyl releases,  but these bonus renditions of “Bloom,” “Separator,” and “Morning Mr Magpie” are still a worthy addition to the series despite a lack of physical representation. “Morning Mr Magpie” is the real standout, with Nathan Fake latching on to Thom Yorke’s ambiguous accusation, “You’ve got some nerve coming in,” before he renders it feeble behind a swarm of metallic beats.

All three tracks will be available Monday via Radiohead’s own website, but for now you can stream them here. The remixes are accompanied by the announcement of five new tour dates in Italy and Germany, listed below. All tickets are available on Radiohead’s website.

June 30th Hyppodrome Capanelle Rome, Italy
July 1st Parco Delle Cascine Florence, Italy
July 3rd Piazza Maggiore Bologna, Italy
July 4th Villa Manin Codroipo (Udine), Italy
July 6th Wuhlheide Berlin, Germany

ncix.com Maybe I’m a little bit TOO excited about this case, but I can’t help it. To me it really looks like a return to form for Antec. They’ve caught up with the competition feature-wise, gone back to the aesthetic that we know and love from them, and of course legendary Antec quality….

Hive has had the pleasure of premiering many strange, awesome videos in 2011. It’s not a coincidence that our favorite premieres this year were also the weirdest, from the highly ritualistic clips from Chelsea Wolfe and NewVillager, to the birthday party funeral scene in White Mystery’s video and the cross-dressing road trip in Hunx’s “Lover’s Lane.” Do these clips point to a particular trend or theme for music videos in 2011? Perhaps it’s a desire to explore mankind’s most primal drives: sex and death. And eating birthday cake.

2. CAMERAS, “Defeatist”

3. White Mystery, “Birthday”

4. Chelsea Wolfe, “Mer”

5. NewVillager, “BigShotHorixon”

A few nice dance images I found:

This weekend marked the fourth year of the Brooklyn Electronic Music Festival, a two-night, multi-venue event that goes down in the Williamsburg neighborhood of the city. As you’ll see in photographer Guy Eppel‘s collection of shots from day one, production company MeanRed not only brought Matthew Dear and Diamond Rings to the fest, but also an assortment of food trucks to the lot across the street. It’s not surprising, since the same company runs PARKED!, the city’s yearly food truck festival. Check out photos of the headliners below, along with shots of Doldrums, Reggie Watts, Beacon, Cubic Zirconia and, of course, some of those food trucks.

Also, to the gentleman standing on stage with Matthew Dear in a striped full-body stocking: If that didn’t get you 20 Missed Connection messages on Craiglist, we’ll be disappointed.

Before St. Vincent‘s killer Live in NYC performance, Hive caught up with the songstress and grilled her on a topic near and dear to every music fan’s heart: Guitar skills. Though she’s known for her eccentric style on the six string, you’ll be surprised to hear that she has an affinity for metal that stems back to her early days growing up in the suburbs outside of Dallas. In the clips below, watch her profess undying love for Pantera and the classics, and find out who’s on her radar these days.
